Hawaii SUP Racing 2018

July 14, 2018

Hawaii Downwind Season is here - time to see what SUP racing is all about as the worlds best head out into the Ocean Bumps and challenge themselves and some wild open ocean wind and swell.

This Saturday we've got the 9th annual M2M race across the famous Pailolo Channel from the island of Maui to the neighboring Island of Molokai. It is a downwind run of around 40kms that can be done by some of the faster athletes in around 3 hours...which is a cracking pace!

Connor Baxter has an incredible record in this race winning all 8 previous times, his first one as a 15 year old. There is a strong crew of paddlers though looking to dethrone the champ and two of these will be Blue Planet's own young guns Ty Judson and Nathan Cross. They will be joined by experienced waterman Robert Stehlik and a strong crew from Hawaii that will take on the Challenge across the channel.

Good luck to all racers and we hope it's a safe crossing for all
